STRATEGIC PARTNERSCO MEMBERFARKHOR AIR BASECENTRAL ASIA CONNECT
India and Tajikistan have built a relationship of strategic significance disproportionate to the small scale of bilateral trade. India's military presence at Ayni/Farkhor — the only Indian military base outside its borders — gives Tajikistan unique strategic importance in India's security architecture vis-à-vis Afghanistan and Pakistan. Both are SCO members, and India provides substantial development and military assistance to Tajikistan.
