FRIENDLY RELATIONS4TH LARGEST TRADE PARTNER FOR JORDANJIFCO JVIT COOPERATION

India and Jordan share warm and longstanding bilateral relations rooted in mutual respect, phosphate-based industrial cooperation, and a growing technology partnership. The first bilateral agreement was signed in 1947 and full diplomatic ties were formalised in 1950. India has become Jordan's 4th largest trading partner, and the JIFCO joint venture — a US$ 860 million phosphoric acid plant — is one of the largest industrial collaborations in the region.

CURRENT STATE

Where things stand, 2026

India-Jordan relations are stable and growing, particularly in the fertiliser and IT sectors. The JIFCO joint venture remains the flagship partnership. Political ties are warm and structured around regular high-level visits, FOC rounds and multilateral margins meetings. Trade has moderated from its 2021-22 peak but remains above USD 2 billion. The IT Centre at Al-Hussein University represents the newest growth vector, with health and medical cooperation also developing.
