India and Grenada share a historical connection dating to 1857, when the first ship carrying 287 Indian indentured labourers arrived on the island. About 3,200 Indians arrived in Grenada between 1857 and 1885, and their descendants — the Indo-Grenadians — today constitute approximately 11% of Grenada's population. Diplomatic relations were established in 1975, and India has been a consistent development partner, contributing through LOCs, grants, an ICT Centre, and the India-CARICOM framework.
